Shortage of Vagifem ?
«

Hi ladies,
I decided to try vagifem again and went to the chemist to pick up my script.
I was told by a very abrupt chemist ( never seen her before ) that there was a manufacturing problem and she couldn't get any and I asked if there was an alternative and she said NO. In front of the whole chemist shop!
Has anyone else experienced difficulty getting vagifem please?

How rude!
I'm sorry I can't help as I don't use it, but I wanted to comment that there seems to be a shortage of various menopause related products, going by what people are saying on this forum. I had trouble getting testosterone.
If there was a shortage of viagra i'm sure there'd be an outcry!

Yes I was met with a fair bit of rudeness this week when trying to get testosterone from the chemist, two of them in fact.
I hope not more hassle now with vagifem they're obviously not keeping up with hrt demand are they. Can you believe viagra is now sold otc but we can't even get bloody basics for our life altering problems.finger# crossed you manage to get it groundhog it's not fair is it.x

I had the problem with vagifem at one chemist for months last year, I was told they are all allocated a certain amount and by the end of the month if they have ran out they have to wait for the next allocation! I changed my chemist to Boots and have not had this problem since, if Boots run out they order for next day.

Like Deidre I also went for my script at Boots and they had run out but they did get it for me within two days. The pharmacist was very good and has now set my script up for collection a full week ahead so that I don't have the worry of running out. She did say that the manufacturers of Vagifem are notorious for not making enough supply which is also annoying for them

Looks like I spoke to soon, put my script in a week last Thursday for Vagifem and told to collect today, 9 days later! Good job I had some in hand and always order when I'm down to 2 weeks left.

changes can be scary, even when we want them

Because Mainland Europe will pay, apparently the various Pharmaceutical Companies get first dibs as the NHS isn't keen to pay full amounts. My Surgery told us to order R meds at least 2 weeks ahead for a few months.

Had problems getting Ovestin this week, normally this is always in stock but had to order in and got next day. Changed chemist again to larger Boots as getting fed up of allowing a week for collection only to get there and it's not even been processed and having to make the trip again. Are all chemists doing this now and not keeping stock.
