Testogel for low testosterone
« on: June 05, 2018, 08:49:14 PM »

Hi everyone,

I am currently taking Elleste patches for oestrogen and have had low results for testosterone.

I have finally been prescribed testogel by my GP after 8 months of battling to get something, however I am suddenly feeling overwhelmed with worry about taking it incase I have horrible side efffects of facial hair, low voice etc.

Has anybody been using this over a course of months and if so have you experienced any nasty side effects?

Thanks

I'm on Testim gel which is pretty much the same thing. I started just over 2 months ago. I'm using slightly less than was suggested but it is helping already and I haven't grown a beard yet  :)

Thank you, that's really good to hear. What dosage do you take? Mine is a 2% gel and they've recommended one drop daily. X

Testim is 50 mg in 5g which works out as 1%. I was told to make a 5g tube last 10 days which equates to a large pea-sized blob, but I've been underestimating the blob size as each tube is lasting 14 days.

Hi Natiou I've just started the 2% gel and was told half a pump every other day for the first week then increase to one pump every other day thereafter by my meno consultant.I don't care about side effects if it makes me feel better.good luck x

Yes I agree 100% if I feel better than I do now then it can't be bad. ☺️ Thanks

Hi Natlou

If you have been prescribed 2% testosterone then it is not Testogel but Tostran. Ideally the 1% Testogel or Testim is preferable as it is less concentrated and most of us only use a tiny amount but several women are now using Tostran - every other day as Daisydot.

Here is a thread where I explained the different amounts in the different products:

https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,39588.msg631304.html#msg631304

I use Testim and apply a pea-sized blob every day as Wilks. In fact now I am using Testim my tube is still going after 2.5 weeks as the blob size seems to be smaller so hopefully I am still getting enough!!!

Hope it works for you :)
