HALLELUJAH for vaginal utrogestan
« on: April 27, 2018, 07:13:12 AM »

I just wanted to post a quick note on here as I've dropped in from time to time over the past couple of years always with a worry or concern and really appreciated the advice.   So....I had really struggled with the utro part of my sequential HRT, abnormal bleeding and crazy moods, the clinic were wanting me to think about the Mirena coil which filled me with dread due to my progesterone intolerence.  But....they agreed I could try vaginal utrogestan first and I almost can't believe it but three months in on 100mg for 12 days and I feel soooooooo much better.  Plus I've had a couple of withdrawal bleeds that actually happened at the time they were supposed so - the first time ever since starting on HRT.   A bad case of thrush this month but I am hoping this is just my body adjusting to the addition of Vagifem and the Utro together.  I have an appointment next week at the clinic but I am hopeful they will let me stay on this regime for now as I feel so much better physically, emotionally and mentally.  I plan to pay for a scan next month just to be sure that the lining is coming away properly but I'm not feeling too worried about that.
If I hadn't joined this forum and been able to benefit from the experience of everyone here I wouldn't have even known about the option to use Utro vaginally - none of the private or NHS meno specialists I've seen have ever mentioned it as an option - so I am hugely grateful.  THANK YOU. Onwards and upwards from here I hope!

Do try using vaginal moisturiser eg SYLK or the YES products, to help maintain the flora balance in the vagina to prevent thrush and BV - however don't use these at the same time as the Utro or Vagifem, so insert the Utro or Vagifem at night before bed and use the moisturises in the morning. Multi Gyn Actigel is also great to have ready should you start to feel the thrush or BV starting as this is quite acidic and can deal with infections quite easily and restore the flora balance quickly but don't use this all the time.
