Newbie here!
« on: October 23, 2018, 01:10:34 PM »

Hi ladies, I'm new to the group and just wanted to Introduce myself. I'm suzie, just turned 40 and am new to the whole menopause journey. After a year of tests and misdiagnosis, my Dr decided last month that I could be peri-menopausal. I'm not on any form of medication as of yet, as I'm still getting periods. Hopefully this wonderful forum can maybe give me tips and advice on how to cope with what I'm going through, as I've basically been chucked In at the deep end by my gp.

Hi Susie & welcome  :)
Why does your dr think you're peri?what are your symptoms?None of us gp's on here but boy do we have a range of symptoms,it's good to know you're not alone. Are your periods heavy or infrequent. I think sometimes drs find it difficult to diagnose as they are not specialists. If you rattle off some more of your issues I'm sure someone can advise here but only on our own personal experience xx

He thinks I'm peri because my hormone levels have dropped, and my periods are horrifically heavy and still very irratic. I also missed two periods. They've always been irratic since my kids were born, but only within the past 10 years have they been very heavy. I was on the merina coil for eight years and spotted or bled all the way through. It got removed last year and that's when all the tests began. At first they thought I had fibroids, now it's only an area of thickness of the cervix. No ow they're saying because I missed two periods and my hormones have dropped, I'm peri. Since seeing my gp, I've had two periods this month. Gynie have been no help at all

Join the Club!  GPs still don't get it do they ........

Maybe make a note of which symptom you would like to ease first.  Some ladies find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary useful.

Read the treatment area above in the green header.  Make notes  ;)

The only symptoms I've had were the lack of periods, which seems to of came back for now. I've not had any hot flushes, joint pain or dryness down stairs. I've always had really bad pmt, which was being controlled by the merina. My libedo has hit rock bottom tho, which is putting a great strain on my relationship with hubby, and my mood is very low. I'm in constant pain in my abdomen, which has puzzled my gp. Regardless if I'm on my period or not, I have terrible cramps.

Could it be a pulled muscle?  Do you have hobbies that would cause tenderness across the abdominal region?
Does pain relief help?  Maybe your GP should refer you for investigations.

@CLKD no pulled muscles, I've had this pain for years. Dr's can't figure out what's causing it so being referred up to the surgical team at my local hospital. While I'm seeing them, I'm going to ask if they can do an endometrial ablation to help with my heavy periods.
