Stopping and resuming HRT
« on: March 08, 2021, 10:05:43 AM »

I’ve been on HRT for around 9-10 years since age 37 due to premature menopause. Recently my prescription expired and I went over a month without taking it. Symptoms returned big time, night sweats, hot flashes, anxiety etc... I’ve just restarted and I’m on day 7, symptoms are improving but I’m still getting hot flashes and mild night sweats. Is this to be expected and if so, how long before I’m “normal” again?

Hi Lisanandy1
I am currently on a trial off hrt (9 wks in and doing ok despite some wobbles).
Re your question - I had a trial off hrt a couple of years ago and after just a week or so decided with gp agreement to go back on (I quickly became very stressed and anxious off the hrt - but there were other things going on in my life too).
I went back on and  remember counting the days 'when am I going to feel better'. It took nearly 3 weeks for me, at that time, to start to feel ok again.
Good luck with it.
