Exhaustion
« on: April 02, 2018, 04:42:26 PM »

Can anyone give me any advice.  I am taking cerazette and femoston 2/10.  I am 49.

Flushes almost gone and I can sleep for hours but I am always exhausted.  It is a whole body exhaustion all the time and can just suddenly nod off anywhere at anytime.

It is really getting me down.  I have had thyroid etc checked and all fine.

Hi. I found this too and the doctors found I have a vitamin D deficiency (which apparently most people do) so I now taje 1000mg Vitamin D tablet a day and found it has really helped.

For me it's my biggest symptom that remains now. Perimenopause is a similar hormonal state to pregnancy and so this could account for the exhaustion.

If you've got worse by adding in oestrogen then you may be better with a lower dose as mine is worse when oestrogen is higher.

Mine also doesn't get better from exercise, it gets worse as it pushes my heart rate higher so a very different feeling to lethargy from too much sitting about.

Exhaustion was the reason I was prescribed testosterone in the form of Testogel. It has transformed my life. Pre testogel I would have sudden crashes in the middle of doing something where all of the strength drained out of me and sometimes I felt faint. I would also fall asleep every afternoon. Since using testogel all that has changed and my activity level is back to normal.

I had mine tested and it was normal/high, but yes I suspect any imbalance could cause exhaustion as the body is desperately trying to bring about homeostasis.

You may well be taking far too much progesterone!  Cerazette is known for reducing oestrogen levels which you are replacing with Femoston but also giving yourself even more prog. No wonder you are exhausted - progesterone and synthetic progestogens are sedatives!

I would suggest coming off the Cerazette and using another form of contraception eg the Mirena coil - and then you could take oestrogen only tablets, patch or gel. I would do this before you even think about testosterone and see how you get on. T is definitely something to think about further down the line once you've reduced the prog in your system. Because of all that prog too you probably don't know where in menopause you are either?

The other alternative is to take the pill - you are just about OK age-wise. There are two which are similar to HRT - Qlaira and Zoely - which will also suppress the cycle but will give you a more consistent  dose of oestrogen. Qlaira for example only has 2 tablet free days.
