Good quality magnesium supplements needed
« on: March 06, 2018, 07:43:46 AM »

I'm trying to get on top of my headaches. They are chronic.
My Gp prescribed amyltriptaline in a low dose to help, and it does but it is addictive.

I'm using a drink water app and cutting out all possible triggers

I do have magnesium glycinate tablets but they have lots of filler in them.
So I'd like to get some decent quality ones.

I also have horrendous hip pain on one side that I'm hoping the magnesium will help.

I always use Healthspan for supplements.  However, I don't think you will find anything on the market with no fillers as they are a necessary part of production.  If you check out the Healthspan website they give full details of all the ingredients in each supplement.

Hope that helps. :)

If you Google for "magnesium bisglycinate no fillers" you will find a suitable product. Amazon do one, the brand name is Herbs. As you probably know, magnesium glycinate (or bisglycinate, same thing) is the most bioavailable form. I actually wouldn't go for the Healthspan product as it contains magnesium oxide and magnesium citrate, which is not really what you want.

Why not try Magnesium sprays - can be very good as it doesn't go through the digestive system.
I get horrid headaches - usually due to poor sleep.  I also think my headaches are triggered by sinus problems (nasal passages dry out with menopause, causing chronic rhinitis ) - so I use Beconase nasal spray daily and this does help. DG x

I do have a magnesium spray but I don't use it every day. I don't like the feel of it.

I much prefer it in my bath as salts.

How much should I try take a day to help my head and joints?

I have the magnesium spray for sensitive skin and use it after a bath and just before bed! It tingles/stings a little when you first use it, which I'm told indicates a deficiency. No tingles now :)

Try a liquid magnesium supplement. No filler at all. I use a brand called mega-mag.

Hi Pinkjan, I recommend the magnesium spray like others have mentioned. For very good quality supplements try Viridian. They are expensive but without any cheap additives, they are worth it I think 🤔

Smitten, thanks for saying the oil stinging means a deficiency. Very interesting but an easy way to check if you need magnesium.

I'm interested in the sprays but heard (possible wrong!!!) that to get the recommended dose (400mg) you'd need about 10 sprays a day making it hideously expensive. It's very confusing! !!
