I understand completely ....
my confidence has plummeted, I am anxious, tearful, and constantly feel stressed over 'nothing' really.
It's getting to the point where I am not able to go to work, drive, or socialise.
People keep telling me 'it will pass' but I have been like this for over 2years.
I am on HRT Conti therapy which has helped the hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia, and did help my mood initially, but after 18 months of HRT my mood is a living nightmare again.

jo I would go back and see if there is something else you can be adding to the mix or whether the hrt needs to be increased.  It would be interesting to know if your estradiol level has gone down.  A blood test would tell you.  I was doing great on the tablets elleste solo at 3mg then the migraines came.  When I started on the oestrogel my oestrogen levels had plumeted to 215 and I have gradually increased the dosage to 4 pumps a day (only since last week) and I am functioning not full of joy by any means but Im getting out to the gym, food shopping etc.  Please dont struggle xxx

Bring me Sunshine, sorry to come into this thread late but I have just noticed that you starting having migraines at the menopause.  Like you, I had a Mirena coil (for contraception) and started having silent migraines when my oestrogen levels dropped sharply.

From what you have said, you were not getting enough oestrogen from the oral HRT and the same thing happened to me.  Judging by what I have read on here, it would seem that some women start getting migraines when they have too much progesterone and not enough oestrogen so I think you have done the right thing to switch to Oestrogel because not only is it very effective, it is very dose flexible.  Because you have a coil, you can afford to use 3 or even 4 pumps of gel if necessary without having to worry about your womb lining building up and the worst that can happen is an occasional bleed.

The key to success with a Mirena seems to be getting a good dose of oestrogen into your system to combat any progesterone side effects and you could even consider splitting the dose to morning/evening - it doesn't have to be an exact 12 hour split.

I hope it continues to go well for you.

Jo24, I've answered you on your thread but I think you could do well on the same regime as Bring me Sunshine.

Thank you Mary that is good advice.   I split the dose today of oestrogel between morning and evening so far so good.  i am certainly not firing on all cylinders but compared to last year a whole lot better.  There is always something out there to help it just takes time to find it and then get it into your blood stream/brain etc..  So much easier if one size fits all but that would be too easy in this roller coaster life.  The great thing is is that we can share our knowledge with Jo and others so they get the benefit of that.  Keep going and thanks again.  i will leave you with this word before I go to bed. H-O-P-E    Hold On Pain Ends and it does night night xx
