Zoladex and hysterectomy
« on: January 20, 2018, 05:40:31 PM »

Hello ladies,
Have posted a few times in the past but not for a while.
Still been struggling but changed job which has helped stress levels.

Had first zoladex and just had period after 2-3 weeks and the symptoms had increased as they said but i am thinking what am i doing!

Been told gets better after second injection and then third should see no symptoms.
My nhs gynae has advised if symptoms go then remove ovaries my private gynae tony mander who is a specialist in this field has said NO full hysterectomy no point just removing ovaries as the progesterone is the biggest problem.

I did email heather currie who advised try hrt before anything but tony mander said no point as it wont work for bad pms in peri. Confusing!

I think they are going to add tibilone after 2 months

Its all so confusing and i just want the migraines/pains to go its so tiring

Anyone got any thoughts or been through it?

Dont know which way to go? Try and ride it out (could be another 10 years) or whip it all out 😱

Thanks
Mazza

Gosh I don't know how to advise you, but I would go with Dr Curries advice first.
It's worth trying hrt before anything major like surgery.
Then consider the options very carefully.

Hi Mazza27

It is very difficult to advice on this. Whether to have a full hysterectomy or not is something only you can decide in the end having weighed up all the pros and cons. Your private gynae does make a very good point regarding progesterone.
However, you do need to stick out the Zoladex treatment first to truly see whether your migraines and pains are hormone based first.
Sadly there are no quick fixes with this. Keep an open mind.
Do look at Prof Studd's site to see his advice re HRT treatment for bad pmt etc.
Dr Currie is right - HRT could be worth trying before going under the knife.
