Peri Ladies - What dose of HRT are you on?
« on: January 17, 2018, 05:55:56 PM »

Hello
I've noticed that there seems to be a lot of new peri ladies to this site and wondered what doses/preparations we were all on?

It seems to me, and hopefully someone will confirm this, that unless you override your cycle, with the pill or higher doses of oestrogen, then we are all going to suffer peaks and troughs of our cycle.

I'm on 100 mg patch and get weepy, depressed, low mood, no energy, spend time in my head, etc.

Should we all be attempting to go for higher doses as soon as possible to stop this high and lows?

Also in peri, how many of us take testosterone?

If anyone reads this and has benefitted from taking high doses to get them right, could you let me know what you take and how quickly you increased to the relevant dosage please?

Hi,

I've been in Peri for the last year and had all the obvious symptoms plus dreadful VA.  I am on 2mgs (occasionally 3mgs if I feel I need extra) of Elleste Solo + 7 days of Urtrogestan 100 + 1/10 sachet of Testogel.  I've tried so many preparation but this one is working for me atm.
I just knew I wasn't getting enough estrogen at the lower dose, but I increased gradually until I started to get a reduction in symptoms.
I will say that from lurking on MM over the last year it's very obvious that it's ‘not' one size fits all!!
I wish you luck finding what works for you.....you'll get there 😘😘

Thanks for the reply.
I've never knew there was a 3mg tablet of Oestrogen.
I should have asked in my original post whether your treatment was on NHS, private or menopause clinic?
I'm seeing a gyny privately tomorrow and am going to ask if she'll support me increasing my patch to 150mg and also if I can have some T. As from what I've read on here that seems to make a massive difference to some - hopefully me too! X

There isn't a 3 mg tablet just as there isn't a 150 mcg patch - the increased dose would be made up from 2 mg + 1 mg tablets, or 100 mcg + 50 mcg patch....I hope your gynae appt is successful? Let us know about the T gel!

Sorry - I know I'm not peri - when I was in late peri I started with 50 mcg patch and it suited me from the start ( that oestrogen dose) but it seem to be different if you are late reproductive stage or very early peri - women vary a great deal in what works.

Gosh I feel daft now!
I never expected that you'd add them together - it seems so obvious now ☺️!
Good appointment in fact, amazing!
I have come away with gel and testim gel.
I feel like I was understood and listened too!

I am on 2 pumps of oestrogel and 100mg utrogestan for 12 days.  This is my first month on this regime and I still have a lot of hot flushes.  I think next month I may up my oestrogel to 3 pumps.

Not at all daft MIS71MUM! Nothing is daft here  ::)

Hey - that's great that you were given testosterone to try too :). Good luck with that - maybe have a look at the thread I started in Private Lives called "Testosterone Here we Go" - might have dropped off to the next page by now. Has some info on there....

Thank you.

I'm off for a good read of that thread right now.

Due to the switch from patch to gel, am hoping to start on Sunday. X

Hi, I was on low dose 1mg of Elleste Duet and Femeston, neither of which worked for me (both made me feel over-oestrogenised, all puffy) but did completely solve night sweats within about 1 week. I then moved to  Everol Sequi patches - these are 50mcg  estradiol - transdermal definitely worked better for me, but didn't feel I was getting enough oestrogen (note, the patches are much lower amount than the tablets, due to different method of delivery, more gets through without going via stomach). My private menopause GP recommended to my NHS GP that I mixed two sets of patches, the high dose Everol 100mcg for two weeks with the 50mcg Everol Sequi (which include progesterone) for the second two weeks. This is better, not perfect but the best balance so far. Message from this is, is does take a while to adjust to a new medication, but if its making you feel utterly depressed (Femeston for me - lots of other people find it great) get off it, if its getting there give it some time. If after you've been on it for say 3 months and its still not right it could be time to discuss different route of delivery or different brand / combination. And it had never occurred to me that you might end up mixing the oestrogen only (which are for ladies without uterus) with the combination patches, so not daft at all....

I was just pondering this question this morning is any lady in peri actually getting any relief from hrt.
I have been on evorel 50 with utro for only 3 or so weeks but I'm feeling awful again. High anxiety emotional and just want to hide away from the world. The sweats are ridiculous my hair is damp, I woke up again through the night with headache like my brain was in a vice. My nightclothes were damp and then I started shivering it's either all or nothing.
I'm back at my GP's later and I'm going to ask for a referral to meno clinic as I can't go on like this. In the meantime I'm tempted to go cold turkey with hrt that may help me see if it is all peri related or I really do need to been seen by psychiatrist.
Since starting last October I've tried unsuccessfully with femseven sequi ( sticking problems), gel but was worried about transfer to my pets and now evorel 50. At least the gel helped with the sweats maybe I need to try the studd regime minus the T
So disheartened  :(

HI,

I have tried 50mcg patches last year and it was awful so swapped to oestrogel which was better but now returned to the patches which seem to be okay (fingers crossed).. struggling with the utrogestan element and having irregular bleeds....

So, Currently..

50mcg oestrogen patches twice weekly
Varying amounts of Utrogestan dependent on what I can tolerate...
GIN...
Gin....
gin...
and the odd tonic....
to go with the gin....
