testogel for low libido?
« on: January 11, 2018, 05:25:04 PM »

Hi,

I am 49, am perimenopusal and had a Mirena coil fitted last August for contraceptive and progesterone (for HRT) and am on 100mcgs Oestradiol patches. This took a lot  of tweaking to get the dose right (my previous post was when I was at the height of despair). My low moods, depression, weepiness and general crapness seems to have settled down thankfully 9although I do still have the odd bad day). However now I have found that I have terrible vaginal dryness, atrophy and my libido is non-existent. I have read some of the threads on testogel, but I don't know if this would be suitable for me and if I would be able to get it. I did mention it to my gp and she said no. Does anyone have any advice on what I could try?

Thank you x

Hi Mich10a

You need to ask for Vagifem or Ovestin cream to treat your vaginal dryness and atrophy.

You have more chance of getting six numbers on the lottery than getting a prescription for Testogel from a GP ! You could ask to be referred to a menopause clinic if your GP won't prescribe.

Good luck do keep us updated.

Hi there
I was given Estriol cream by my GP for the vaginal atrophy/pain which definitely helps, I use it twwice weekly.

I'd also highly recommend you look into using vaginal dilators which can be found online. They take patience but absolutely do the trick for the atrophy.
For the libido I tried DHEA but found it made me much too angry nd aggressive not to mention hairy-faced!
I stopped taking it and as I'm single and very happy beng so have just let my libido peter out and concentrate on things that for me are more important.

Hope this helps.
