Oesteogel/uterogestan issue
« on: January 01, 2018, 08:48:31 PM »

Hi help!! 😔

I have been on the oesteogel and uterogestan regime for 6 months, I suffered bad migraines and bleeds on other hrt and they felt this would suit, it has up until now!

Over the last couple of days there has been a light pink discharge, haven't had periods in years and worried this is not suiting!

Am on 1.5 pumps of gel and one 100mg tablet daily, this was so didn't bleed, he did say I could up the gel but warned me it may cause a bleed so am wary of doing that!

Anyone had this and solved it? Thanks! 👍

Hi Mel2334

 :welcomemm:

Thereis a whole long support thread on Utrogestan/Oestrogel - if you back one page I expect you will find it! (Here it is: https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,23372.0.html). I haven't used oestrogel (I use patches) and only use utrogestan vaginally on a sequential basis (ie a cycle - and have a withdrawal bleed) so haven't experienced the problems you have. However when the progesterone is taken orally, much is lost in the digestive system and also going through the liver so there could be some inconsistency in the actual dose that reaches the uterus, and if so this can give rise to spotting or bleeding. In any case there is often bleeding or spotting in the first 6 months approx of continuous combined HRT, and women are advised to seek advice should the bleeding continue beyond this time. If you have been on this regime for 6 months without any bleeding whatsoever and have suddenly started to bleed - then ideally you should really mention it to the doctor just to be on the safe side, although it is unlikely to be anything serious.  If it does continue and you want to increase your oestrogen then you might have to change to a cycle so that your bleed is predictable. You haven't mentioned your age and how far post-menopausal you are?

Hi thanks I read the post but was nothing on it about pink discharge so thought would ask.

Am 45, menopause since 38, had no actual periods for 3 years, as suffered extremely badly to the point of zero iron levels neither myself or the specialist want to risk bleeds.

I will have to be referred back to the hospital as they discharged me when seemed to suit, doctors are useless, was hoping someone would have a potential answer from being on this regime or if suffered same what outcome was.

I put the capsules vaginally as read orally can be so hit and miss.

Oh! Goodbye then! ?? Why disappear like that because no-one answered straight away .....??

We are all women just like you with lives to lead. No-one is paid, nor even official volunteers - we just come on here when we can to try to help - and IT'S CHRISTMAS (well last day today) so peeps have been busy!!! There are LOTS of members and LOTS of posts and sometimes it might take 20-30 mins to answer one post. Some of the questions are quite specific and there aren't necessarily women reading who can answer. We just try our best to do what we can when we can.

I hope the HRT works for you anyway and if you need more help - do come back but please be patient! You did the right thing to bump your question - someone would have seen it and responded eventually....
