Tendinitis.
« on: January 02, 2018, 12:52:58 PM »

I think I strained my left elbow in August messing about landsailing, we where on holiday & initially I blamed the dogs for pulling about on the leads to much  ::) the pain slowly got worse over the next month or so, so I went to the doctor's. He said yeah its tendinitis rub this cream in.
Well that did exactly nothing so I went to an osteopath, he messed about with it for a few weeks & it was definitely getting better, but it's just not going away. Stuck in a rut now, good days & bad days. Osteo can't do any more & I can't keep going forever. Any one got a bright idea ?

Hi suziq99 and sparkle. I have osteoarthritis and a back problem which flares up from time to time. More frequently as I get older. I have tried most things for painful times but I have a very good acupuncturist and that really does help. She also does massage and cupping which also helps the back.  If you can get a recommendation from friends etc. I would also really recommend this as an alternative to meds. Good luck with whatever you decide

Hi  :)

I've had tendonitis, joint and muscle pain as part of my symptoms.
I'm currently under the care of a Menopause Specialist who asked for my Vitamin D and B12 levels to be checked. The Vit D has come back as deficient, so I've started treatment for that. Interestingly one of the marked symptoms for it is tendonitis, joint and muscle pain (plus a whole lot of others) - might be worth looking into.

Yes I was low in vit d and low end of normal b12.  Nothing done about b12 but I've been taking a good vit d supplement for quite a while now.

Feel any better Sparkle?
Early days for me and I don't want to get too hopeful but I guess any improvement helps  :)

'itis' = inflammation.  Because the joints are on the move, even breathing can make the muscles move, the painful area won't get the rest required to heal.

Pain relief by mouth is usually the fastest way.  No one should maniuplate a joint unless recent X-rays have been taken!  Typical golfers' or tennis elbow can be pinpointed exactly and pressure on the tender area will make the patient JUMP!!

I was low in VitD and I have had no symptoms other than being intensely tired.  After 20 mins. weeding I had to sit down for 2 hours.

That's interesting I will certainly get mine checked.
