Testim gel
« on: October 28, 2017, 07:40:49 AM »

Ok got my testosterone.  Its tubes of testim gel 5mg. Been told to use one quarter of a tube daily. How does this sound....too much or too little?  Also where is it best to apply.  Info suggests upper arm????   Thanks

Sounds way too much Tinkerbell.  I use a pea size blob after building up from a petit pois.  You may be ok with that much but I wouldn't, as always it comes down to individual response x

I was advised to apply on inner thighs, but for me there was an instant fuzzy hair growth situation - I don't know if that is usually the case. I now apply it to my calves where I would be shaving anyway.  Like peri I use a small blob - one tube lasts me about 14 days.

Thanks ladies it did seem so much more than the consultant had said...my gp issued this lot so speaks volumes lol. Have to say after three days my continual cramping has gone. ..hopefully it is balancing out something! !

Men use a tube a day so one tube should last about 10 days x

Sorry for hijacking the thread but quick question for Annie0710 - do you use Tostran everyday?

I've just started and I'm using it Monday Wednesday Friday but not sure where to go from here. Not really noticed a difference yet apart from one big spot which came up on my chin  ::)

Good luck to you Tinkerbellj  :)

Yes I use it everyday.  I was given it one time instead of Testim (which didn't do for me what I was hoping it would) so tried it nervously knowing it's double strength.  Results weren't immediate but I noticed one day how I'm never afternoon napping

Sex wise my thoughts are there but the body isn't taking part, and most of the times that I'm horny is when I'm alone !!!!

But our sexlife has increased and that is a bonus.  I'm quite houseproud again too , I hated when I felt down and didn't have the energy to clean x

How did you manage to get testosterone e prescribed? Are you on other HRT too?
I am on estrogel and have Mirena coil, now 3 years post meno, and will be two years on HRT in December.
I teach dance and fitness classes, but I'm finding it so tough, I feel like I'm dragging myself around at times, I know I've have a cold this last week, but the last few days my joints and lower back have been aching and I feel like I could just curl up in bed and sleep.
I have little enthusiasm and sex drive is rubbish.

I don't know how to even mention testosterone to my GP it's been difficult enough getting local estrogen alongside my systemic HRT.

I'm counting myself in being lucky to have a GP who is willing to listen.

I'm on a high dose of Oestrogen but struggling with symptoms. I told her I was wondering if adding Testosterone to my HRT might help, instead of increasing the Oestrogen again. We also discussed being referred to a Specialist. My GP felt trying the Testosterone before being seen at a Menopause Clinic would be the best plan.

I did take along a completed Symptom diary to show her and to open up the discussion.

It's worth asking Ljp, if you think it might help  :)

I Ticked every single box of low testosterone.  Then I was sent for a scan to rule out ovarian cancer(Drs concern not mine).  Sonographer said  my ovaries had gone and explained as the blood supply was severed years before during my hysterectomy with no blood they shrivel and disintegrate.  I used this info to my gp for testosterone but she had no experience so asked a gynae who said yes give it a whirl x

Thank you  :)
I'll give it a couple more weeks of this regime then may add in an extra dose - I'm only using a tiddly bit but will increase the frequency rather than the amount to start with.
