Hi Amanda
Sorry to hear about your sister. The situation re close relatives and your own risk of breast cancer is quite complex - but depending on the outcome of her results you might be able to ask for a referral to a specialist to assess your own risk and also whether HRT might be possible? I presume this is what you are waiting for?
Whereabouts in menopause are you in relation to cycles ie how often are your periods, have you skipped any, are they heavier, lighter etc?
In the meantime you can help to lower your blood pressure through the following measures ( if you need to): losing weight, taking more exercise, cutting out smoking, reducing alcohol and salt intake amongst other things. These, along with adopting a very healthy diet (lots of fruit and veg amongst other foods, less refined food and sugar, and fewer carbs and unhealthy fats !) will also help to reduce your risk of many cancers.
I hope the medication works to reduce your flushes while you are waiting for the results.
Hurdity x
