Back after a calm period
« on: August 26, 2017, 01:06:59 PM »

Hi ladies,

Well I am back after a month or so of calm (well relatively).

I have been to physio to look at my back which I thought may have been causing some of the nerve pain in my leg, which I thought was meno related. I  have a bit of a bulging disc and plus one in my neck which is also causing the arm pain. I have been doing exercises and bit of acupuncture. Helped a little.

I have been mapping my symptons every day and find at pms is when it all goes haywire!
Tinnitus is screaming right side, nerve pain right side ,pain in abdomen right side and then the full on period pains and bloating, oh and don't forgot the psycho mum and wife 😂
My head and brain feel so fuzzy can't think straight don't feel me and I get  a headache for days with the odd bad migraine thrown in just for laughs...until the period date arrives.

I think I need some sort of hrt ie gel or patch and to be honest want to try.
Would you agree this is best route?

My current gp won't give me (says stroke risk when all research says no) and just wondering any ideas on how I could get it?
I have been with gp for many years should I change her? Or get referred somewhere again

I know this may be old ground but how can I try hrt? Or go for hysterectomy because I can't do this every two weeks for next god knows how long!
I have even just decided to change my stressful job traveling and sales  to less stressful job in an office which i start in the next week.
I am trying to remove as much stress as possible as doctors and others say 'are you stressed' no I am not for gods sake

Any more advise is great full

Hi Mazza.....am glad to hear you are doing a little better. I know from previous posts that you and I have very similar symptoms - constant headaches and then migraine type headaches at different hormone changes in the cycle.  My gynae appt is this coming Wednesday 30 Aug and so I am hoping that I will get some answers then. I too am confused about whether I am a candidate for HRT given that I am still having a regular cycle (26, 27 days) at the moment and my blood results show that my hormones are in normal range.
I too have bulging discs in my neck and while they are not the cause of my headaches they do contribute to them - I am having physio and this has helped somewhat.
Best wishes

Hi mav,

Good luck with gynae 👍
I have decided that I am going  to go back to Tony mander meno spec and pay for another consultation.
I have got all my symptons on my diary and see if he will prescribe me the gel.

I am due about now and awful awful period pains, terrible nerve pains and screaming tinnitus as I write this!
The headache is actually not too bad but have had one for last 6 days
I am also red hot and will lose a stone in sweat tonight I bet

Hope all goes well let me know how you get on

Hi Mazza
Glad to hear you are going to a meno specialist, if he gives you Estrogen and it doesn't solve the tinnitus you might consider going to a neurotologist (not a neurologist and not an ENT) a neurotologist specialises in neurological disorders of the ear. From what I have read Tinnitus and migraine are linked and tinnitus can be caused by hormonal changes so hopefully that's the case for you and perhaps hormones will fix it for you.  If not,  a neurotologist might be worthwhile.
There is a good article in link below about tinnitus.

Thanks mav

I do think all tinnitus and headaches are hormonal, I wouldn't like to be stuck with this for rest of my life 😤

I have had headache now for 7 days and it's bad now with the tinnitus which could be why I got the headache. My head feels like it's in a vice not migrainy more tension across the front band

My period is due but with coil don't know if I will get a bleed I am hoping so much to get my period as I know I will start to feel better, crazy hey wishing for a period!

I am moody and very snappy and have come to bed took amitrypline so I will sleep

I am so sick of feeling crap whenwill it end

Hi Mazza
I know what you mean about it being never ending.....I just can't catch a break with this - I feel awful EVERY day....the headache just never stops it just varies in its intensity....I am Day 6 today and from 1-7pm I have just been awful - tight head like its in a vice and my eyes always feel weird too when the head is bad - like a hangover where your eyes feel strained or like when you have a head cold and your eyes and brain feel disconnected. Nurofen or panadol don't help the pain at all.
Are you on Amitriptyline as a preventative? I tried it at 10mg at night but had to come off it after 6 days cos it made my heart rate too fast. I have heard it's meant to be good for chronic daily headache and migraine, if you can tolerate it. I tried Gabapentin then but it was awful.
I am really hoping the gynae can help me - it's been 11 months of hell and I am still unable to work.
Keep in touch

Hi mav,

They gave me amitrypline as preventative but just take when my head is buzzing loud, helps me get to sleep don't take regular just when bad so don't really get side effects.
They also told me to take propanlol as preventative but think made my tinnitus worse.

I have had the sorest nipples ever for last 5 days where clothing even hurts, never had that before. Had sore boobs when period due but not like this.

I know what you mean about work though, I start my new job Monday as I have been on garden leave for last month. I need something to help me when bad or else they are going to question taking me on

Let's see what today brings!
