Thanks for the tip on Vit D. It's funny, the one thing that definately raises my mood is sunshine. After my 5 days of horrid insomnia in May I had a holiday booked for 2 weeks later...was terrifed I wouldn't be able to sleep on holiday. Took sleeping tabs for two weeks before I went to get back to normal (Nitrazapam...Z drugs didin't work for me) which did help then BAM first night away from here (Dunblane Hydro...lovely, great family rooms). Slept fine...first time through for ages. Then on holidayall ten days slept fine...no drugs...realised I loved the set up of the hotel room...all dark brown walls / warm glow lamps so came back, spent £100 in IKEA, repainted bedroom walls mushroom, new lamp, fluffy rug, changed bed orientation...and BOOM I am sleeping really not bad. The occasional duff night waking at 2 and 5 but overall much improvement on past 6 months (I used to wake 3 and 5 like you...sometimes not getting off again). So do think of medication but also maybe try making yr bedroom super cosy.
