Please help awful experience
« on: May 17, 2017, 02:16:58 PM »

I'm currently in the hospital toilets after having my Evorel patch peeled off me by an endocrinologist. He has basically told me I will have a stroke as my BP was 140/90 today ( on ramipril although I'm not sure if I took it today)
He said I need to stop running, stop my hrt and get an emergency referal to a cardiologist, I just can't go without hrt. I can't sleep I can't function. My life is terrible without it. I can't get a GP appointment for 3 weeks. I don't know what to do. Is Hrt really contraindicated with even controlled BP as he said?? He basically said I would have a stroke if I didn't tear it off then an there.
I can't stop crying

Omg what is wrong with these Drs! Talk about a drama queen! How awful for you. Transdermal hrt is considered one of the safer options, why is he referring you to a cardiologist? I would have slapped the man!  >:(

Has he considered you Bp was up due to white coat syndrome?

Also the guidelines say , you can go on HRT transdermal route with BP issues , just need to work with a GP tonsort it .

You probably will get hogh BP now , due to the sudden withdrawal from HRT ....I do really wonder 😡

Where was the Nurse who should have been with you at the appt.?  If he thought you were about to have a stroke he would have admitted you and asked a cardiologist to attend.

This is bad practice.  Go home, give your GP a ring and ask for a 'phone back for advice or for an appt. ASAP.

How horrible for you .

Why were you seeing an endo ? What did he have to say about what you originally went for ?

Thanks for your advice and not judging me for being so hysterical.
I was there because I have premature Ovarian Failure. I'm not sure quite how I ended up there but it was one of the three choices I was given on choose and book.
I did think transdermal was the safest But he was really full on, saying I needed to think of my son etc and stop all exercise! You all seem to agree it's rather odd. What makes if worse is my GP is really badly hit by the conputire virus thing and can't access any records, the phone line is just redirecting to emergency services...* sigh*
I don't want to take my patch off so I'm going to cough up for a private GP tomorrow if I can't get hold of mine.
Thanks for your support. I had a little moment there

It really begs the question,if it was that urgent you needed to see a heart specialist why didn't he refer you immediately ?  :-\

I have occasionally had higher BP than that & GP put it down to white coat syndrome. He's  only worried if it stays high for more than one reading. I'm also on ramipril.

How awful for you.

I would continue with the HRT and buy a home BP monitor ;-).  What did you decide?

that's not really all that high, maybe a little bit but moderate exercise is helpful for BP, no exercise at all isn't good for you mentally or physically.  I don't know what to say but I agree about phoning your surgery and asking for a call back.

If it were that urgent in m y day the appropriate consultant would have been brought across to the particular Clinic B4 the patient went home.

Honeyblossom,

Like you my life is unbearable without HRT and to be honest I would be admitted to a Psychiatric hospital without it.

If it's due to BP then Angeliq is a very good combined HRT that is used for women with raised BP. Looking at your reading, it isn't that high :-\  180/100 is high so it may be a little raised but NOT life threatening. Ask for a BP monitor from your GP and change Consultants.

Please don't worry ;)

An endocrinologist is not the best consultant for premature ovarian failure, you need to see an informed gynaecologist who can put you back onto your patches or gel with the appropriate progesterone, if the endo is so concerned about your heart, surely he should realise that by not taking HRT at your young age, that could be more detrimental, silly git! I also went through it and was on hrt from before the age of 40.
I would put myself back on it if I were you, relax, measure your bp at home as others have said white coat syndrome happens, it certainly happens to many of ours & that reading is really not high. I doubt a cardiologist is needed, more like a good gynae. But do try and stay on your patches you need to keep your levels up to protect bones, heart etc and transdermally is really a great way to do that. Strongs.
