Pill or HRT and pill erosion
« on: May 13, 2017, 08:26:48 AM »

Hi,

I went to see a specialist last week and I have some options, but it's my choice and I'm Unsure which way to go.

Until about 3 years ago I took Yasmin for about 12 years.  I then got some erosion on the cervix. My GP changed me to cilest in case Yasmin had anything to do with it. All was fine on cilest until December this year. I then had my period and then another for three weeks a week later. I was also suffering rashes ( now sure if they were hormonal, the derm thinks not, the gynae thinks they may be).  My GP changed me to Femodene. The bleeding stopped. My skin improved, which was getting spotty, my hair seemed better, but my libido went downhill. Because of this and I was unsure as it was a higher risk pill than cilest so asked to be changed to Qlaira which seemed more gentle. I had a rocky start mood wise with Qlaira, but it settled down and I like it. The only think is my skin is a bit rashier than with Femodene and my hair has gone terrible. I read Hurdity's post about her hair being bad to start and then great.  I have very long hair, so it's really distressing seeing it go dry and thinner.  I'm also spotting.

The gynae said it seems there is some pill erosion which he wants an ultrasound for and checking further if the lining is thicker than 4mm.  The options I have are: stay with Qlaira for another couple of months  and see how it is.  As much as I like it, I have no low mood from this progesterone and my libido is back, I don't see it as an option if I continue bleeding and my hair continues to get in a state. Change back to Femodene, or the other option is HRT.  The gynae recommended the oestrogel and ultrogestan or the Mirena. I don't see the Mirena an option as its levonorgestrel based, which has never agreed with me in pills.  I'm so unsure. The pill is so familiar to me, I'm not sure if I'm clinging to it because of that and HRT is such unchartered territory. I'm also worried the HRT will not give me as much as the Qlaira. Am I worrying unnecessary?  The gynae did tell me to stop trying to micro manage it 🙄  I'm just wondered if anyone has been at this crossroads and what choices you made?

Sorry to add a bit more.  The bleeding seems to increase with the Qlaira as the progesterone increases. I'm going on a yoga retreat next week so I do hope I can get it sorted.  I wish this increase in bleeding had happened before I went to the gynae and its so difficult to get an appointment with the GP, who just tells me it's trial and error.  Thanks so much for no any advice/experiences.
