Second Mona Lisa Touch today
« on: April 26, 2017, 05:18:44 PM »

So update , month since the last one , this time the laser is 2.5xs stronger so 😳 , speculum wwntnin pain free so the gynae could get out the estring so that's 👍 , zapping inside pain free , externally 😳😳😳😳😳 however , the pain after this time was 90% less , I could walk normally and sit on the train afterwards .

The skin on the perinium from last time has more give , and the vestibule is a 100xs healthier looking, it did not smoke this time 🔥😳 or smell of cooking pork 🤢 as the skin is so much healthier .

I have a lot wrong vaginally , however to get the skin healthier / stronger is part of the puzzle , she said there must be something in my " make up" genetics that I struggle with hormones , have such bad VA , oestrogen with high levels but as dry as dry , all to do with histamine and stuff , I will have the mirena fitted probably next time but still thinking about that one.

I hope one day it's on the NHS , as I no many ladies lives this is transforming and I really hope I am one of them , but time will tell.

I am not walking like john Wayne this time , so the skin must have been compromised last time , even though everyone says " you look normal for your age " ummmm no prolapses though , MLT is also helping bladders .

Next in a month. X

Well done!  How much courage does it take to attend?  How often does this treatment give good success rates?  Seems so far that you are doing OK, how have you felt in-between treatments? [you probably said somewhere  ::) ]

Tried without estring, but severe flare up of syotoms and uts taken three weeks to settle it again.
Also have urgency/overactive bladder 🙁
Please keep us posted with your progress x

Smoke? Cooking pork?? Eeek, Maryjane. Glad John Wayne wasn't with you this time either - fingers and everything else crossed for you. If ever there was a woman who deserved a break it's you.
Please keep us posted.

Aw glad its going good for you !
You are brave but I know you've tried hard to get things under control, so really pleased you're getting results

What did you mean about histamines? I'm a long term allergy sufferer and get reactions most days to things I can't pinpoint so wonder if my histamine levels are constantly high x

Re courage nothing obviously compared to many many other procedures, but yes I do get stressed as ultimately you are having your vagina/ vestibule/ perinium lazered which is just not normal. Success rates about 90% , I have lots wrong vaginally so I don't expect a cure but improvement would be great, it was first developed for ladies with VA after chemo and VA , but is also having a lot of success with certain skin conditions of the vulva area also. This is not a designer vagina that the press talk about , that is different and painless , this medical and not painless.

Ok between treatments , it's strengthening the skin , rejuvenation all to do with collegian .

LJP yes I am afraid some ladies need the lot and more , hence me needing more so this procedure is my last hope.

Ancient runner , yes smell smoke , its normal as the skin is so thinned , but this time because it was in better condition from the first time this didn't happen , not that I could see or smell anyway . 🤢

Annie0710 re histamine , if you are/ we're allergic to lots of things then that is a problem with histamine and how our skin reacts to things , our vulva area is so sensitive and with the lack of oestrogen it's our Achilles heal , along with loss of oestrogen, allergies very often get worse as we age , quite a few specialists prescribe antihistamines along side the oestrogen treatment , problem is antihistamine and other drugs are also drying to the mucosal membranes , so becomes a bit chicken and egg.

The deep layers of the vulva area set up a histamine response , which is why some foods irritate that area , when VA can't be controlled it comes under the umbrella of vulvodynia, which is basically pain in the vulva area , vulvodynia is quite common unfortunately, and is hard to treat for many.

But whatever the cause pain The the vulva/ Vaginal area is the pits , and I like many many sufferers am sick of it.

Lots of ladies end up on drugs like amitriptyline along with a non drowsy antihistamine plus local oestrogen, amitriptyline for trying to shut  off the nerve pathways/ antihistamine for the histamine/ skin irritation and oestrogen for obvious reasons .

I never knew the histamine connection! Thank you Maryjane.  I carry epipens and hoardes of non drowsy antihistamines plus my inhaler everywhere I go, even to the corner shop! The minute I forget my ovestin I'm itching again x

Thank you Maryjane for sharing all this really useful information. Its a great, great help.

I've had VA since August 2016. Am on Vagifem - nightly. Still struggling.

My gynecologist told me the inflammation on the outside wouldn't get better unless I took an anti-histmaine, so I'm very interested in what you've said about some women having that prescribed as well. I know he's right, but worry about the dryness that the antihistamine will cause - as you point out - and haven't dared act on his advice yet.

The second thing is that I too decided to go the laser route. I live in Asia and what was recommended to me was a procedure identical to the Mona Lisa, but less intense, called Renovalase.  Apparently it is used in Europe quite a lot, particularly in Italy and Spain. I had the first session this week. It felt like very short bursts of heat each lasting about a second, for about 15 minutes, more or less. Uncomfortable but tolerable. The heat feeling on the outside lasted a few more minutes, but five minutes after the procedure it had gone too. I am supposed to have two more treatments, 3-6 weeks apart.

I had premature ovarian failure at 42; am on Estrogel daily (3 pumps) and dydrogesterone 12 days every 3 months. I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and take Euthyrox 75 mcg. I was also just diagnosed with Localized Scleroderma (yesterday) but haven't had the wits to look it up yet.

All the best wishes to you Maryjane and to all the fabulous women on here who are such a great support lifeline.

Kay - with 2 k's  ::)

Double the Vagifem. Apparently it was double the dose and for some reasons it was halved so ladies don't get the same effect!  Or ask your prescribing practitioner for Ovestin1mg instead/as well.

Thanks for the update too!

Thanks - there's no ovestin where I live unfortunately and the Vagifem I have will only last a month - if I double it up I'll only have two weeks' worth. I've gone through the whole stock I carefully brought here in Feb, never expected I would be using it every day....I had over six months' worth at what I thought would be the normal rate of two a week....

Thank you Maryjane, its definitely something I am considering. When I eventually see someone in the UK, I will ask.
