Vaginal dryness
« on: May 06, 2017, 06:17:24 PM »

I'm sure this question has maybe been asked before but can't find anything about it. I have very dry vagina and throbbing which dr thinks is a prolapsed bladder but the pain isn't there all the time? She has given me yes lubricant because I have had breast cancer twice the last time two years ago. Does anyone know if vagifem would be safe for me and should I ask her to prescribe it?

Hi Maggie - welcome!

I agree with sparkle that you need specialist advice re Vagifem. Were your cancers oestrogen dependent do you know. I believe that this can make a difference as to whether HRT is advisable or not.

My GP never hesitated to prescribe treatment for vaginal atrophy.  Without it I wouldn't be here ;-).

We have several threads including "My Bladder etc." - which reminds me, where's SuziQ?

Hi Maggie67

 :welcomemm: from me too.

CLKD uses estriol cream which I understand has less effect on the breast than estradiol (contained in Vagifem). Even so I would defo go for a specialist referral if they are saying you can't have local oestrogen at all..

The different types are listed here:

Maryjane on here has gone for Mona Lisa touch laser therapy which can be very helpful for vaginal problems - she's started a thread on it which is here somewhere. It would cost, but is safe for women who have had breast cancer.
