I thought I would look up the make-up of nasal mucos - good old net:

"Mucus is produced by submucosal cells as well as goblet cells in the respiratory system. It consists of mucin, a highly glycolsilated peptide. Upon stimulation, MARPKs (myrastine-alanine rich protein kinases) signal the binding of mucin filled vesicles to the plasma membrane. The fusion of the vesicles causes the release of the mucin, which as it exchanges Ca2+ for Na+ expands up to 600 fold. The result is a viscoelastic product of interwoven molecules called mucus."

-Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mucus

Off to get my Degree in Nasal Mucos ;-).

There was a good article on the Boots web-site but still didn't tell us what it's made up of  ::) but various salt nasal methods are discussed.

Oh mine are like that all the while, then suddenly I realise that I can hear properly for a few moments, everything sounds loud.  Like they are stuffed  ::) - narrowed Eustachian tubes.

Just  choked on some tabbuleh.  I think the parsley was a bit ****ly and ticked the irritated side of my throat.  :(

Anyone would have thought I was gasping my last - thankfully no one performed the Heimlich manoeuvre though  :-[

I went to speak first thing and a sudden stab at the side of my throat caused me to cough  :o

It is a Lebanese salad made with bulgar wheat (or cous cous).  I have decided I don't like parsley - it makes me feel sick.  I have also realised that my throat problems were probably caused by nibbling at dried apples which are a classic cross-reaction for people with silver birch hayfever.  I thought they were ok though ::)  Bother.

I have stopped eating them and my throat has been better since then.

I have never liked parsley  ::)

Maybe you could list what you know about cross-reaction between food-stuffs in another thread?  I find allergies fascinating even though they can be dangerous.
