I've got a recipe for home made ones passed down from my great grandmother. That keeps me going for the rest of the year

Someone has to do the research. These old recipes are often the best, no messing with unnecessary extras like cheese.

They don't always.  Christmas and Easter often brings them there but that's not reflected in the weekly attendance.   Sad.

Someone once offended my parents by asking them what denomination they were.  Mother replied 'C of E' to which this rude person said to them 'oh yes, Christmas and Easter'

No spontaneity, too much reading from printed service sheets..............

I can see where you're coming from, Stellajane.   The point of the printed service sheets - and this is not just in the Anglican church - is that the words, which have stood the test of time, are devotional and can be prayerfully meant while they are spoken in the service.  But as you say, each to their own.
