Hi to all!
What a fantastic source of information thiis forum is!  I went to my gp 6 wks ago as I had been suffering the usual symptoms insomnia, hot flushes,no energy and the list goes on! I am 49yrs old and my last period was approx 4 or 5years ago so the gp prescribed me kliovance , the first week I thought this is a miricle no hot flushes and a good nights sleep , energy seemed to improve then after wk5 the cramps and spotting started and generally feeling lousy again but thanks to this forum I thought I would keep going and trial the full 3 months. My symptoms got progressively worse including really horrendous headaches and anxiety so I stopped and made an appointment for the gp,  my gp is wonderful so I have now got a prescription for angeliq, however the past 3 days I have had cramping and bleeding , the question I have for you knowledgeable ladies is do I wait until the bleeding stops or do I take the pills and hope it stops??? Thanks in advance

Hi Lollie and welcome

I cannot comment on your HRT as I haven't had experience of those brands but just wanted to welcome you and assure you that somebody more knowledgeable will be along soon.  You could also see one of the specialists recommended on this site if you were unsure your GP knows enough about the different brands?  There is a lot of info to take in, I agree, I went through a couple before settling on one.

Good luck

Thank you smirking pixie, its awful although I must admit since stopping the kliovance im no longer in a haze with headaches so I might try kalms and muti vitamins until the bleeding stops at least!

Hi Lollie

 :welcomemm:

A certain amount of bleeding and spotting is common in the first few months of starting a continuous combined  HRT and as the two different preparations have different progestogens - the change from one to the other could account for the additional bleeding. Did you have a gap between stopping one and starting the other? If so this would partly explain the bleeding. It means that the lining probably had built up a little and the withdrawal of the progestogen caused it to come away as a bleed.

Re the headaches and anxiety on the Kliofem - this could have been due to the progestogen in that HRT - norethisterone - which can cause classic pmt symptoms in some women all the time! Let's hope this does not occur with the Angelique. I'm not familiar with this preparation and the progestogen - but I think it is classed as third generation so maybe be better tolerated? Hopefully someone else will know.

Let us know how it goes :)
