Hello
Has anybody tried Ymea? Has it worked? Or is it just another hope dashed and another waste of money?
Thanks

Never heard of this???!!!  What is it? If there was anything out there that would help us ladies I'm sure we would have heard of it by now. If it is expensive then be very wary.  Sadly trials on most alternative remedies are usually inconclusive - so many simply have a placebo effect.
There is ‘some' evidence that a diet high in phytoestrogens and possibly Red Clover can sometimes help but this will vary from women to women and probably depends on the severity of symptoms and where you are in the meno journey. Needless to say if one has a risk of Breast Cancer then phytoestrogen should be avoided - but these phytoestrogens are believed to have some beneficial effects for heart and bones.
HRT is still the best treatment for meno symptoms.  Dg x

Thanks CKLD - I also looked this up.  I agree with you  - not worth trying and very expensive. I like your description “whizzy-whassy”  ;D
It's basically a supplement with the usual botanicals and vitamins that claim to help meno symptoms. DG x

"plant assets" ? ......... you are what you eat?  Some ladies find that 'alternatives' can ease symptoms until their own hormones join in  ::)

Beaniegirl?  what symptoms would you like to ease?

;D plant assets indeed!!! Maybe a translation from the French

Anyhow - I agree with the others - I mean most of us have never heard of it and I LOVE the term "whizssy-whassy" - I think this should now be used for anything like this - you've invented a phrase CLKD!

Sorry brads - you did ask..... I would concentrate on your overall diet, lifestyle, weight (if necessary), exercise etc and make sure you are in the best of health that you can be - if you are not taking HRT ( and if you are).

beanie girl I have heard of Ymea before though I've never used it.  All the ingredients listed above could help you alleviate certain symptoms but you can get them in any health food shop.
Just depends which symptoms you would like to get rid of. :)

Thanks all.
I can just about cope with all my symptoms except the constant rolling, tumbling, internal shaking (like being at the top of an eternal roller-coaster going over the edge). Also lately a "congested" feeling in lower middle stomach and where I imagine my ovaries are. I have had every exam and scan going and am all-clear (thankful for this, though in the night I am still convinced they have got it wrong).
Had HRT tablets in the past (they worked a dream) but am wary of doing these again. I'm nearly 60, menopause about 5 years ago (no real idea as on POP contraceptive pill till then). Drs. here not much use, so feel I have to self-diagnose.
Thanks again.

How is your over-all diet?  Sometimes during The Change the bowel etc. slows down.  When I have slow transit my whole belly from below the ribs t

How much exercise to you get?

As your investigations have been clear then maybe keep a mood/food/symptom journal?

If you put Ymea into the Search box it will bring up all of the posts on this. I think it was first mentioned in 2008!

Hello beaniegirl.

I also have the internal shaking and it's driving me mad!

It seems to move around my body, beginning in my chest and then moving to my stomach and then my bowels before returning to my chest. I don't worry about my heart but I do fear that I will need to rush to the loo and that adds to the anxiety. I have this most days and when it does stop I feel much better but I can't figure out how to get rid of it. HRT helped  but didn't  eradicate it entirely. My trusty meno book mentions these sensations and says they are common but subtle which certainly hasn't been my experience!

I haven't looked into Ymea but if the ingredients are plant extracts then I think we are better off eating the actual plants.

CLKD - is whizssy-whassy your new term for the placebo effect?. I always thought you were in favour 'nowt wrong with the placebo effect' and all that lol!

Wishing you well and keep hope alive!

K.

Hi Kathleen
I agree - this sensation is certainly not subtle! Or common, according to all the GP's and specialists I have asked about it - they have all looked at me as if I am mad! "Oh, I don't think so, Madame"!
Does your book explain what might be actually physically happening inside to cause these feelings? I'm imagining things shrivelling, turning topsy-turvy then falling out - cause that's what it feels like!
