Am I perimenopausal?
« on: September 07, 2020, 01:12:54 PM »

I am new to this forum and really hope you can help. For the past year or so I have been getting a very warm intense feeling in my face. My face doesn't feel warm when I touch it and I don't have a temperature. The only way I can describe it, is an intense heat under the skin. I feel like it's taking me over as it's unbearable. I went to GP in October who did a blood test but, this came back inconclusive, I was told no indicators for menopause found. I have also had other symptoms such as poor sleep pattern, mood swings and anxiety.  I am still having my periods. Could I be perimenopausal. I am 48 years old.

You could well be. Have your periods changed at all (more frequent, less frequent etc). Have a look at the Advice for Husbands pinned posts, you will find many of your symptoms there.

Yep sounds like peri-menopause from where I'm sitting.  Did your GP give any indication at all?  There is a skin condition which may begin around the drop in oestrogen levels, but name escapes me  :-\

Jules1, hi, you most definately could be peri menopausal, health professionals rely too heavily on the blood tests FSH/LH and generally are totally ignorant re peri menopause symtoms & treatments. Unfortunatley it is an individuals own responsibility to do as much reading up re their symptoms, trying various things themselves to see if it relieves any of the symptoms (weight loss, increased exercise etc) and researching possible treatments so when you go to GP you have as much knowledge as possible, knowledge is power & I wish I had been clued up about it, otherwise I wouldn't have ended up round about the houses (various tests & specialists) to get the 'obvious diagnosis of peri' years later!!! Let us know how you get on, keep a symptom diary and read up info on here to educate yourself. x
