PMT before Utrogestan
« on: February 02, 2017, 05:39:29 PM »

Hi Ladies,
I've not posted for a while.
Sometimes I get PMT symptoms before my Utrogestan is due. It's not due until Sunday but I'm already feeling anxiety, low mood, a little nauseous negative thinking, etc.
Is it just me or does anyone else get this?
Thanks
Shellb

Hi shellb
I'm no expert but when I used utrogestran my pms would start a few days before I used it then ease up then return all in a space of ten days ish I know this as I kept graphs for months ! The menopause specialist though it was due to my own hormones still working.
I had mirena in end September and though still got pms its no where near as bad as was
Sorry I cant be of any more help

Hi there Shellb - I agree if you are still peri-menopausal then your own cycle will be carrying on in the background from time to time so maybe you are experiencing the fall in oestrogen (despite the constant background level from the HRT) or your own progesterone when you ovulate. Nausea can be due to high oestrogen - but  low mood indicates low oestrogen or some effects of progesterone. I would not try to analyse it and go with the flow - and remind yourself that these days will pass - give yourself something to do to distract yourself - I expect you work? If not hobbies, volunteering, walking!!!
