Such a light period, so still undecided.
« on: December 30, 2016, 10:05:56 PM »

Well, eventhough I hadn't taken amy Utro, my 'period' finally arrived - albeit 45 days after my last one, and just sooooo light. I didn't even need a panty liner, there was just some brown/red spotting when I wiped. And it only lasted 1.5 days.

I have never gone 45 days between bleeds before, the longest was 33 days recently, but it's has usually been 26-28 days this last year.

I had felt fine for the week prior to my period, and during. But I have felt very low and depressed since it finished 3 days ago. Have also had a persistent headache.

I keep thinking of having the Zoladex injection, (my GP has written the script for them + Livial) but is there much point when it seems like my periods are seriously petering out?

I am booking an endometrial scan at Mothercare in January just to see what's happening in there, and how thick the lining is after 4 months of unopposed oestrogen (although, not totally unopposed as my own progesterone must have caused these very light periods each month, I assume?)

I just don't know which way to jump, and I know I'm annoying my poor DH with constantly talking myself into/out of having the injection.

Aaaarrrgghhhhhhh.

why are you having injection? sorry did not follow you. I am having tibilone without any injections.I have irregular periods sometimes 26 days apart then 16 days and now very light flow after 30 days. My main concern is low mood, anxiety and foggy mind with fear setting in. I have been taking 18 days half a tablet so far not much to say anything positive yet.

Hi Pam

My consultant suggested Zoladex because, despite being on 4 pumps + an AD I am *still* getting really nasty mood dips, lasting anywhere from 2 days to 10 days - where I feel really low, anxious, hopeless etc.

And, I'm still having a monthly (very light) period despite not taking any Utrogestan these last 4 months.

So, it would seem that my own cycle is still fluctuating wildly, and causing these awful mood swings.

The theory is that Zoladex will totally shit down my cycle, and put a stop to these fluctuations. But I have read very mixed reports about the efficacy of Zoladex, in my sort of situation, though my consultant deems it "very succesful", but I'm terrified it might actually make me feel worse.

Thanks for sharing this information. well I am the same with anxiety and mood issue so I was given two types of AD but no help and 2016has been very testing for me. So menopause clinic advised tibolone even though I have periods. So I have had tibolone half a tablet for nearly 20 days now and today I had periods and I hit rock bottom with anxiety out of the roof and nausea a big issue with it.
Let hope in 2017 we can find some more answers.  I have appointment in Jan with gynae and female hormone specialist and see what he has to along with my gall bladder to removed.
Maybe just wait for period to settle next month and the scan and then try tibilone alone. Just a suggestion though. I know it is hard which way to go.

If you still can't decide why not go with it and see what happens it might work fine with you. I know it's scary but you have nothing to loose. X

Hi GRL
I hope you are still doing well.

I thought I'd answer your post objectively to help you make a decision.

When I've read Prof Studds website - it says that you can expect light periods on his regime, so can you take your lighter bleeds to mean that your periods are petering put? Or just that Prof Studds regime is having its desired effect?

If you have the Zoladex injections and livial, I understand that these are time limiting. I'm sure I've read somewhere that you can't have them beyond 8 months, however, I could be wrong. Therefore if you tried the Z, you could be in a position to know whether a hysterectomy would suit you long term.

I know it's a hard decision to make, but when you've been through what we've been through, you can do anything and whatever is thrown at you, you'll deal with it.
You know when you see older ladies jumping from planes and doing bungee jumps, I reckon they had hard menopause's, then when they got to the other side, thought they could do anything.
Take care.
