Highs and lows of 2016
« on: December 28, 2016, 09:51:37 PM »

What have been your highs and lows of 2016?

Mine has been the serious on-going illnesses of five close friends and the loss of two cats. Highs have just been surviving all this and still standing. Not looking forward to the losses 2017 will bring.

I coped with the fact that a friend ended his Life 12 months ago ……. although I went to a dark place initially.

I realised that adding 5mg AD to my daily medication list has eased my anxiety  :bounce:

I try not to look more than half a day at a time, helps me cope ;-)

2016 has not been good. Too much stress and worry with Mum. We also had to have our lovely old dog put to sleep in June.

The only good things about this year have been that we managed two x one week holidays this year which is a record!

High was son graduating with a distinction in his masters  -and celebrating my 50th with a lovely barn party on the farm.
Lows my grandad's death in January and my diagnosis of cancer later in year.
A mixed bag and not sure what 2017 or future holds but I'm hoping things will get better. X

I'm looking forward to seeing Charlie Brooker try to sum up this year in the Wipe tonight!

Highs were travelling a lot - Berlin in particular
Lows were having to take a month of work after years of perfect attendance, and constantly being at the doctor or hospital.

Looking forward to 2017 - I'll be 50 and I'm really hopeful that I'm through the worst of this.

Low, Mother in law having a heart attack last week, stent fitted so hopefully resolved.

Highs, Son graduating Uni and getting a place to continue his studies.
Family visiting from New Zealand.
Since starting taking citalopram in February I've seen a HUGE rise in my confidence and I'm a lot more positive about life  :)

2017 might be the year we finally find our dream property after looking for two years, we are quite fussy  ::)

Roll on 2017! That's all I can say. 2016 has been rather an 'annus horribilis' for me. A combination of worrying national and international events combined with the deaths of many well known and popular personalities. From my side, too many hospital referrals for my liking  and only managed 1 holiday. Also fell and broke my wrist a 2nd time. Fortunately have made a good recovery from that.

The one good thing was that i recently won 2nd prize in a photo competition. The prize is a 1 week course at my favourite Italian language school in Bologna so I hope to book that soon.

I have been there several times and my prize winning photos were of Bologna and activities organised by the school between 2008 and 2016.

My high-point of 2016 was definitely getting a strong compliment on my playing from our city organist.   Nothing tangible, I know, but psychologically gold-dust for me.

Low-point has been trying to help our daughter to keep de-stressed (at a distance of hundreds of miles) during a year in which she's been through two driving tests, a house-move and a change of job.
