Don't look for sunshine yet.  Go with your sadness.  You deserve it.  Eventually memories will come and you will smile again but don't rush it.  There's no time line!

There are several sites which can give comfort.  Some have a candle to light with the pet's name ........

Oh Analee  :) - how sweet.

I haven't had any more pets other than goldfish and today I found a cricket  ::) - but have plenty of cats visiting here  ::)

I adore my dog but know he will not be with me for ever.  I do my very best for him and if he needs anything to keep him well he gets it.

However the responsibility of his care and the financial aspect of his ageing weighs heavily on me and causes no small amount of anxiety.  For this reason I know that he will be my one and only, especially as we are getting older ourselves.

However, has anyone heard of the 'borrow my doggy' scheme .  Our daughter has signed up for it and has a wonderful time with a local dog whose owners work.  All the fun and the exercise and licks and nose nibbles without any of the financial commitment or responsibility (apart from the walks and the games)  :scottie:.

We had our dog/s insured.  Paid for itself over and over with Pedigrees  ;) - it meant that I could decide about expensive treatments which gave me breathing space.

However:  kazy - your fur baby didn't show signs of pain and was in general slowing down, although a shock for you,  probably a good 'end' for her.  Nothing is perfect after all.  Knowing that she wasn't suffering as such will take over your feelings of loss eventually.

All in your own time  :tulips2:

ours is insured, thank goodness, and we get his cervical spondylosis paid for but it doesn't cover his digestive issues so I have to pay for the supplements to keep that under control as well as his specialist diet.
