Thanks Tempest. I've recently moved to Sandrena gel and for some reason seem to be absorbing that more readily do will continue with that.  I'd rather not have implants as, like the mirena, if you run into problems it's not easy to reverse or address the problems.

Mx

This may well be because Sandrena is more concentrated: 1.0 g Sandrena gives 1 mg oestrogen. 1.25 g Estrogel only gives 0.75 mg oestrogen - so you would only need 0.75 g Sandrena to get the same amount of oestrogen! I would suggest anyone who thinks they are having trouble absorbing oestrogen from the gel switches to Sandrena before changing to a patch - because even applying exactly the same amount of gel in exactly the same way - should give you more oestrogen (also depending to some extent on drying area). I know we're only talking about small amounts in total but it could make a difference? Just thought I'd emphasise this here even though not the main subject of the thread  ::) (l've said this on other threads too!).

Back to Tibolone, Testosterone and Estriol :)

Hi Tempest,

Day 3 was when I noticed some side effects. Nausea, headaches, spacy feeling were the worse in the first two weeks. Headaches (apart from last Friday) nausea have settled. As I have said before mornings are my worse as I think the Tib effect has worn off from the day before.

Also - last night I noticed a return of urge incontinence (which I had pre HRT) and today a small increase in adrenalin surges before a hot flush. My opinion is the Oestrogel is out of my system and the full effect of Tibilone not reached yet. On a positive- yesterday afternoon and from lunch time today again a glimpse of the old me ;)

Keep going Tempest I'm with you all the way ;)

Thank you so much Warwick, and that's BRILLIANT news that you're feeling a wee bit like your old self! I'm so very, very happy! I love it when there is happy news from other ladies - you're all so lovely and deserve to feel the best you can. Hugs!!! xxxx

Hi Ladies todays Update day 26:

Well had some really bad headaches with very strange sensations like electric shocks traveling through my body, back of neck to top of my head. Last night was particularly bad, I was scared to fall asleep in case I had a stroke..... (imagination again)

Luckily I had my follow up with Gyne re ovarian cyst which he will drain March 21. I told him about the side effects. However he seems to think it's the crash from stopping the 3 pumps Oestrogel. as he said ladies who go straight on Tibolone settle quite well but others who are changing do appear to experience problems.

I was ready to give up last night but will carry on and hope things improve :-\

Tempest - how are you today ??

Hi Warwick and thanks for popping in with info and an update

Tempest will be interested in the oestrogel to Tibolone effects as she has mentioned this is her fear, let's hope if she gets them they are manageable, your encouragement and updates really do keep her going.

I'm day 17 I think switching from estradot 75mcg and blob T to 2.5mg Tibolone.  I've had some headaches but I think they're more sinus ones from this blimming ear problem.  I'm feeling very sleepy in the mornings so not sure when a good time to take the pill would be ? I might try @5pm today but I'm useless at keeping to times for tablet taking

Thanks again for the update xx

Thank you for sharing, Warwick! Yes - this is my biggest fear I'm afraid! Today is day 3 with no Estrogel, day 4 of Tibolone. Today I feel very unsettled - creeping anxiety, hyper alert and generally down so I'm hoping this isn't an impending crash!  :'(

I'm trying to stay calm and resting still - at least I have Hubby here for company. Last 3 days I've actually felt better than today,  but I'm trying not to panic. I had some night sweats last night again too, but nothing major. Head was only foggy today for an hour and a half after taking the tablet, and I thought it was going to be the same today as previous day's but SOMETHING has shifted. I'll keep you all updated!

And yes, Annie - not sure when is a good time to take this tablet. I'm personally not rocking the boat by doing any changes in dose time at the moment though. Thank you so much too for your ongoing support! xxxxx

Hi Annie,

The first 2 weeks I was very sleepy/no energy in the mornings along with nausea and need to rush to the looe. All have improved.

The Consultant said Tibolone is good for women who can't tolerate progesterone (like me)

Oh by the way........ even though I am experiencing some horrid symptoms, I don't have the agitation/wired feeling I had daily on Oestogel, feeling more calm :)

Glad your coping with the change Annie Wxx

I've noticed the same Warwick - no agitated/wired feeling since stopping the Estrogel! I was CRAZY on that stuff and I'm convinced it was because it builds up and of course, I didn't take prog. to balance it. Can I also just say Warwick, that when I had the cyst for which I had my oopherectomy that I felt very poorly and had a LOT of strange feelings. I was informed by the surgeon that this is because it secretes estrogen and if they are large, it can really make you feel unbalanced and awful. I'm hoping when they drain yours that you feel a huge improvement! xxxx

Thanks Warwick, in hindsight it probably helped that on day 3 I got these burst ear drums so that kind of took over anything I may/not have felt on the changeover, I'll never know now

Tempest - try your best to ride with this crash if it is one.  Are there measures you know of how to cope ? This is your best chance of your body naturally utilising all the hormones you had pre surgery.  As I say some of my jittery moments during the early days may have been the Tib, I was thinking it was the panic of losing my hearing.  In the first week I also had a couple of dirty dreams during afternoon naps, sadly nothing during my nighttime ones that I could've woke OH with !

So on the whole Day 17 I'm not feeling much different than the day before I started but on a plus I'm not feeling any worse x

I'm finding this thread interesting. I would have stuck with Tibolone if I hadn't developed bad acne, as it helped me in so many ways.  I won't pretend to understand how it works but I do think it is often overlooked when considering HRT options and for those who struggle with progesterone it could well be a good option - If lack of libido is a problem then Tibolone can definitely work - it did for me!! Aw that's such a shame it gave you acne DG.  I would love my libido back, but I am very mindful of what it may do to my hair, T gel accelerated the loss slightly so this probably will too :-(
It's then I'll have to weigh up the pros and cons.  If it restores my wellbeing it may mean I work round the hairloss, I shall see xx

Thank you, Annie! Yes, I'm trying to 'go with' this this time if at all possible! My best strategy is just to stay very calm and not stress the adrenals - it's usually that I think that winds me up in A&E as everything goes haywire and blood pressure spikes massively - this never happens for me any other time apart from during one of these crashes, as my BP is always naturally low (below 120/80), even when I'm under stress! It's interesting that you also had unsettled periods during  the early days - like you say, you may have just naturally thought it was due to the awful infection and panicking about hearing loss! xxxx

Hello, Dancinggirl! Please excuse me as I owe you a reply to your very thoughtful message. :)

I am so very encouraged that you had good success previously with Tibolone and yes, it is often overlooked I feel! My GP says that he has a few ladies who have enjoyed good success with it for quite a number of years, and he is more than happy to continue prescribing it if the ladies are benefiting. He also told me that he is seeing renewed interest in it and is prescribing it more again now that HRT is 'back in favour'. xxxx

Tempest - Interesting about cyst. Did you have it drained or the ovary removed? I just wonder if you feel really crappy why not just use half a pump of you gel for seven days until Tib gets into your system. This was advised to me and I have read other ladies do the same during transition.

It was explained to me like anyone withdrawing from any medication. I have had shivers, goose pimples like going @cold turkey'.......... JUST MY OPINION.

Dancinggirl - I was never offered this and new nothing about it until I did my own research.I read yesterday who loved Tib but suffered bad ACNE. It did however settle with a change of cleansing products.

Annie - hope the earing problem gets sorted soon

Well yes there's been good development, ENT said keep steroid nasal drops going then when ear pain settles and end of this week try very gently popping ears, if they don't, stop and try a few days later

My hearing went worse yesterday and this morning so in despair I tried it and left ear popped ! I'm not sure how much has come back but I immediately had to get the tv off full volume ! I'm on a bit of a high right now !
