I've just turned 45 and periods regular (I think!- a lot of treatments get in way of being able to tell!)
Periods starting to become further apart and last a long time.
I'm depressed and on a fairly high dose of venlafaxine 225mg. Actually last month I felt fab around the time of ovulation- it was wonderful!! haven't felt good for a very long time so really great experience! in fact the whole cycle was reasonable (again- unheard of for me!) and it followed starting a 25mcg oestradiol patch.
I thought that was it- i'd cracked it but this month i've been feeling progressively worse since ovulation. i tried increasing the oestradiol- v nominally to 37.5mcg- it's made me feel a lot worse and i don't honestly think it's what i need.
so i'm back to the 25mcg as of today- but wondering about testosterone.
would i be right in thinking any woman of 45 could be a candidate for testim let alone a depressed one? i dont think that testosterone (or lack of) is the one cause of my symptoms but is it reasonable for a depressed woman- fairly resistant to ssris- to try it? also i've read that testosterone levels fluctuate so i'm confused as to why people have blood tests for it- thank for any info
