Help feeling dreadful
« on: November 05, 2016, 11:16:23 AM »

I started patches on Tuesday I had to do my Humira injection for my colitis last night. I've been awake since 5.30am keep getting hot flushes, want to be sick, heart racing. I suffer with anxiety but this had started to improve. What should I do. I've also got a headache. I feel like ripping the patch off and stopping this

Your body will react initially to HRT.  It's Trial and Error until the body kind of sorts itself.  It depends on where you are in the peri-journey as to how you will feel  ::)

What patch are you using Burchers? There are bound to be some initial side effects but they should soon settle especially the nausea. I presume you are on a cyclical HRT which gives a withdrawal bleed hopefully to coincide with your periods, when you have natural ones?

Hope you feel better soon :)

Oh dear. I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad. Do you think that maybe you're just coming down with the flu or something?

PS - if your patch contains progestin (norethisterone) that could be what is affecting you. A separate estrogen and progestin is usually best at first until you know how you will react to them.

When I first started HRT my symptoms definitely got worse before they got better. It took a while for my body to adjust but I'm glad I persevered. Hang in there

At the moment you are on the oestrogen only patches and you are probably having initial side effects from these - however do give them a chance to work and for the side effects to settle. It is usually recommended to stay on a particular HRT for 3 months before deciding whether it is for you.

Hope they start to work for you soon :)

I know a lot of women do not react favourably to the progesterone in hrt, but there are also a lot of us that do. I love the relaxed feeling it gives me. I sleep better, feel less anxious and generally more chilled, so  here's hoping when you take the progesterone you also feel the same. Good luck!
