When Can I Change HRT
« on: November 22, 2016, 07:08:29 AM »

I'm 51 and been on elleste duet 1mg for about a year. Before starting hrt periods were irregular maybe every  2 - 3 months. Hot flushes started years before!! Just wondering when i could go on to conti hrt so no more bleeding?. Would I have to stop hrt to see where I am ?

You would probably have to take a break as you are still quite young and possibly still peri meno. You need to be one year without a natural period before you are considered post meno and therefore able to use conti HRT.  Many women don't like taking progesterone all the time - it can bring more side effects.
If you want an easier HRT regime then having the Mirena fitted is a good option - you then just add in oestrogen as pills, patch or Oestrogel. After the first few weeks of fitting the Mirena, all bleeding and spotting usually stops and you then have a non bleed HRT regime with far less hassle.  DG x
