You are not alone!! I too loose loads of hair especially when washing it and then brushing it out. A good handful and i can see that my hair has thinned at the fringe. It feels overall alot thinner than it used to. I just put it down to yet another side effect of the menopause even tho I am 5 years post and been on and off different types of HRT but whether Im on it or off it, I am still loosing it!! I also get patches of dry flaky skin. Its not itchy or sore just flaky and at the sides and back of my head.
