I tried balance activ menopause pessary but when i put it in it dropped slightly with movement. Is this normal? I have been going through menopause for about 10 years and am on vagifem and it does not happen with the vagifem.

Hi lorrapaw - I remember you :)

I haven't tried these pessaries but vagifem are different from most other types because they are a small dry tablet that is designed to stick to the walls of the vagina once inserted, and stay there releasing the estradiol. Most other types just sit there gently dissolving. I've had four children and apart from Vagifem which I sometimes insert in the day while walking about, other pessaries (eg utrogestan, and formerly Orthogynest - now discontinued) I only insert at night when lying down and hope they do their stuff while I'm in bed (mostly!).  I imagine the Balance active are similar? Do the instructions say insert at night?

Is it because the vagifem is inserted with an applicator so is put further up? It's difficult to put it far enough in I would think using just your fingers.

Is it ok to use both products?

Yes you can use both just not at the same time.

The balance activ also falls out ode if I was to stand up and use during the day.

Yes u put it in at night. I did not like it as halfway through night i got up and my panty liner and my knickers were all wet with it had to change myself. No wonder they say to put in at night god knows what would be like if going about during day.

Is it OTC or on prescription?  Bit of a waste if it leaks the active ingredient!  I don't leak with Ovestin   ;)
