Telephone answer machines
« on: September 06, 2016, 12:19:49 PM »

For the last 6+ months I have noticed that messages left on our BT system haven't appeared for 2/3 days  :o so I missed Mum's urgent call on Sat..  :bang:  it was sorted eventually but her message didn't show as 'new' until 11.00 a.m. today.

I think that we now pay for BT answer facility.  Anyone know how I can complain?

That doesn't sound very good as it could be something really urgent. Hope your Mum is ok.

We have a bt answer phone and messages are always there immediately in fact it can be a nuisance as often someone has not put the phone back (DH) and before we can find either of the phones the answer machine cuts in so when you do find the phone the call sounds really odd. I really must try and find out how to increase the number of times the phone rings before the answer machine kicks in.

Anyway I digress I assume you mean messages that you pick up via the telephone itself. Did you manage to contact bt and did you get an answer re the delay.

Haven't found out if we pay for the answer service, have found on the telephone bill that there are numbers that we don't recognise  :sigh: it's all on line now  >:( ………..

 :thankyou:

A colleague of mine grumbled the other day that she had been charged extra for the BT answering service. I can't help you as I am with Virgin.

I think it's been an additional charge for a few years now, initially it was free ……..

In the BT Consumer Price Guide, it says the cost is £2.25 per month for BT Answer 1571.
