As CLKD says, if you can get to see another MD or can manage to access an appointment with a Gyno. who covers Menopause, that would be your best bet. You shouldn't have to suffer on, and it helps if you can be armed with the latest info. regarding HRT and it's safety. Anyone who dismisses HRT out of hand as 'being too much of a cancer risk' isn't up to date and is probably still influenced by the WHI study, which has been proven to be flawed (older population starting HRT for the first time, oral combined HRT).
Print off anything you need to support your choice, take it with you and have a good browse around here to see what type of HRT you may be interested in. Hystersisters is also a good forum based in US, although the ladies there have of course had hysterectomies. I suggest it though as they have comprehensive information on all the many types of HRT available in the US (you have much more choice than we do in the UK)!
Good luck!
