I felt that he lied in order to get a sale ……. telling me that he had recently purchased said item but that kind of conversation puts me off!  A simple 'that is lovely and well make' would suffice.

Maybe he's struggling as a lot of these shops are at the minute. Antique dealers are not always renowned for telling the absolute truth - it's part of the whole antique world.

In 10 years I've not found many that are part of *that* world Taz ………. I usually see through them but he caught me unawares.
