I have a caruncle at entrance to urethra and a year ago I could not stand the symptoms any longer ( painful to wee and feeling as if I was gong to wet myself on and off all day) and agreed to use vagifem.  At first it was a miracle in that at end of the loading period the painful wee had gone and the wet yourself feeling was much improved but over the past 6 months the symptoms are getting worse again.  I am now using vagifem 3 times a week instead of the 2 recommended.  My husband says my caruncle is slowly getting bigger although still much smaller than before the vagifem.

I have a Dr appt next week to discuss this but just wondered if anyone knows anything about caruncles as I have not found anyone else with one  

I am a bit wary of using vagifem more often in case if affects my womb lining, the lady Dr I see for this said that they don't need to do ultrasound to check womb lining unless I get bleeding

You can use vagifem 5 xs a week for life no problem .

You need to use a thousand vagifem to get the equivalent does of one 1mg of systemic oestrogen that I use everyday, there's an awful lot of lack of knowledge re local oestrogen especially amongst GPS.

I was told by meno specialist that Vagifem can be used every day as it was only equivalent to one HRT tablet a year.
My GP recommends 5 x a week to all her ladies.

Some of us use an Estring for vaginal oestrogen and the weekly dose is equivalent to X5 vagifem.

My gp has me in 10m every night for the rest if my life if i want
2 years ago if youd gone on Vagifem the ONLY DOSAGE WAS 25m 14 days loading
Then 2x25 a week thats 50 right there
Use it every night for a month bet you improve dramatically xxxx

Ohhh thanks everyone.  That makes me feel alot better, I will use more often between now and my appt and then tell her what I am doing and the effect.
They don't seem to have much knowledge as she got the book out when she prescribed it and then said stop it after 3 months and see if the symptoms come back and if they do just keep on using it for ever.

Many dont know use 1 a night and watch it get better takes about 2 to 3 weeks xxx
Oh and ask for Ovestin to rub on the outer areas stops skin splitting and keeps it moist

Have been using vagifem 3 times a week for past 3 weeks and things improving. Saw lady gp today and she said that I can continue with the 3 times a week or I can do 2 week loading and then twice a week and redo the loading as necessary either is okay with her.  If I still have annoying symptoms then to go back to her.

I am gong to continue with the 3 times a week for now. My problem is the caruncle rather than atrophy although obviously the vagifem will stop that happening.
