mapping my mood in my cycle
« on: May 26, 2016, 08:24:46 AM »

On the advice of a forum member I decided to chart my anxiety levels in relation to my cycle . I have done April and may and though I suspected a link I can visibly see one now its in  chart. At the beginning of the calendar month my anxiety is low then a,day or two before my period my anxiety shoots through the ceiling this lasts all through my period approx 7 days and for another 7/10 days after then falls back to normal. I take 200mg of utrogestran days 1/14 of calendar month .can anyone explain what is happening to me to make my anxiety shoot up like this before my period ? What can I do to try and prevent it ? Thanks

I think that I have always had the problem of anxiety right before my period. The difference nowadays is that anxiety/low mood does not really improve when period starts. Not on HRT.

Are you perimenopausal or post? If peri, it could be too low progesterone as this gradually declines over the years whilst oestrogen starts surging upwards at the same time (for some).

Could you try Utrogestan throughout the month to see if it helps?

It could also be oestrogen surges down in peri or low oestrogen in post. Oestrogen and progesterone both have smaller peaks when their opposing hormone is peaking, so prog has small peak at ovulation and oestrogen has a small peak at high prog time, so it can be hard to work out without trying more or less of the individual HRTs to see if you feel better or worse.

Or off it 20032003.  That's one thing I have noticed, the low mood lingers on whereas before peri once a period started my mood would lift.

I wrote a little strange, I think. What I meant is that I'm not on HRT but this change has happened for me anyway. I really miss that nice relief - both mentally and physically - that used to come with the periid!

Can you not take Utrogestran continuously, maybe with the lower dose? I think keeping the Utrogestan minimised is best for those who are post-menopausal with naturally lower oestrogen where, for them, the progesterone dominates them too much.

You may have the opposite problem, especially with your bleed not being under control.
