Apparently the Members probably voted against because having The Open there means that they lose playing time so I can kind of understand it. They probably don't get a choice as to whether The Open is held there but I expect Members aren't allowed to play in case they spoil the greens etc.. So to Vote against Women Members was a means to an end

There are non-men golf clubs …….. I don't understand how Clubs can be sexist but there we go …… golf spoils a good walk anyway
