Vagifem - 14 Day Reload
« on: May 04, 2016, 01:46:35 PM »

Hi everyone.  I apologise if this has been covered before.  I have been on Vagifem for over 3 years now and it has been an absolute godsend.  No problems with just the 1 dose twice a week as recommended.  However, very suddenly a week ago I woke up one morning and had immediate reoccurence of the horrible burning symptoms etc.  Thought it might be the start of an infection but couldn't get Drs. Appt and had no urgency etc.  Decided after reading on here that it would be a good idea to do the 14 day reload.  I am now into Day 7 of this and symptoms have improved but not totally gone.  Wondering when I stop the 14 day reload how often I should go back to as maybe twice a week isn't enough now.  I'm 55.  Worried though as don't want to overload.  Also did anyone else find there symptoms returned so suddenly and acutely when had been perfectly fine for a long while?

Thanks everyone.

Hi Meadowblue, I was on Vagifem only for 3 years then I found it wasn't working as well as usual and I had urine infection after urine infection , terrible soreness and agony in my bits . I decided to bite the bullet and try oral  Hrt which worked very well ( and is continuing to do so ) I had no other menopause symptoms and I know a lot of ladies on here have found relief with Hrt to sort out these problems .
I did try the 14 day reload too but it wasn't enough.
That's my story I hope it helps you
❤️❤️❤️❤️Ss xx

In my experience you need all of the 14 days to get properly right again - what you're describing sounds normal. I am one of the Estring crowd and do recommend it.

I would do the 14 day reload and then use it more often a week than you have been....I have never been able to mangage on the prescribed dose!
The lady gp I see is happy for it to be used 5 times a week as that is equivalent to the old dose.
Also the meno specialist I see said that even taking it every day would not cause a problem, as it is only equivalent to one oral HRT tablet a year....she put that in writing to my male named gp as he kept telling me he would no longer prescribe it as I had used it for more than two years  ::)

I agree Stellajane - as a Clinician I would be offended if a colleague of either sex went against my suggestion if it was working for the patient  >:(

Continue with the reload for 3 weeks if necessary!

Thanks everyone.  I will up the times per week once I have finished the 14 day reload.  Feel very reassured  :)
