Alternative to Premique
« on: April 19, 2016, 08:38:30 PM »

:-\     Just been put on premique by my gp but discovered it contains pregnant mare urine. I won't be part of this cruel practise. Any advice please?

Don't know whether you are on sequi or conti from the description, but do know all the other are not to do with horses.  Have a look on the tabs at the top for the different preparations for pre meno and post meno, then do your own  research on the recipes by using the search on this site.

I started Jan this year on Elletste conbi ( post meno) - didn't suit me always round.  After three months I changed to Femoston Conti and so far, after1 month's, I'm doing better but it's still early days.  Generally, the ladies on here say you have to give each recipe 3 montnbs or more. The difference in the combos is the type of progesterone.  Some suit us better than others.  The other  difference of is the amount of estrogen - all a case of trial and error.

Good luck.

Hi Soph4496,
Try the link below. It lists the HRT'S available & explains them a bit more.

I was once on Premarin & it agreed with me at the time - I was so desperate I would have tried arsenic.

I just looked back at your posts as you are new (so not too many to read!) and see you are 60 - and were put on Elleste Duet earlier? I am amazed that the doc would put you on Premique at your age. Typical of the doc to choose the two cheapest to start with!

You should really be put onto a transdermal HRT at your age as this is supposed to be safer overall - there are only two types available as combi patches - and you can find these on the link that Cazikins gave (scroll down).

If you didn't get on with Elleste Duet then Evorel conti probably wouldn't suit you either so the only other one is Femseven conti which many women are happy with.

Other than that you can have separate oestrogen (patch or gel) with progesterone - and these are listed here: http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/treatafter.php and here: http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/to_progestogens.php

Hope this helps :)
