Elizabthrose - the reason I suggest you try the AD/SRRI option is because you are now getting so many flushes and other meno symptoms and these can really wear you down.  Sadly nobody can tell you how long these meno symptoms will last or whether they will actually subside completely.  You may be lucky and only get flushes for a couple of years but the average is about 5-7 years I believe!!! The headaches may be reduced now but they might be reduced further (or even stopped)  with ADs/SRRIs???? I think it is worth discussing this with a specialist - life is short and if you can get your life back on track sooner - that would be great?
I do love your positivity though  - so brave.  Dg x

Thank you so much Dancing girl. Haha, it makes me laugh typing that!

I'm not being brave, I just learnt long ago that you can't fight migraine, you have to simply close down and accept it happening. As I said you have to find a way to get by. I thank God that I am positive because negativity would only wreck the good times when I'm well and then I'm normally running around like a headless chicken trying to catch up.

I will certainly do some research into your suggestions. I know that SRRIs are an option, I just can't remember why we didn't go along that route. I have honestly tried a great many treatments and medications and seen some of the world's leading specialists who were absolutely brilliant. My body is very reactive not just to hormones but to medications too. I know that that has had to be considered very carefully so maybe that had something to do with it. I have endless hospital and personal notes and records, so I'll pull them out and investigate.

As far as the hot flushes are concerned, I may well have to seek treatment at some stage and I know that they can go on for years. I've only had them for 3 weeks and as I say it's early days and I am still 'celebrating' the recent changes. (112 days without a period - I'm already planning my menopause party!) Joking aside though, I fully realise a period can come at any time, with that I have a wealth of experience!

Thank you so much for taking the time to advise me, I really do appreciate it. If I find the new developments become overwhelming, I shall be straight back to pick your brains

All good wishes to you.

Oh Elizabethrose, I've just read your post having replied to you on another thread.  All I can say is I honestly don't know how you're still standing!  To have migraines for such lengths of time is just horrendous, I really don't know how you've coped.

I did a précis on mine on the other thread so won't bore you with it again.  Just to say welcome and lovely to have you with us.

Hello again Sparkle, thank you for your very kind welcome. I've just replied on the late menopause thread to our migraine conversation.

Good thing about migraine is that when they've gone, they've gone. (Despite the fact that they may return pretty quickly!). You have to cope, there's no alternative!!
