Has anyone else experienced little of no emotions after ovary removal ?  I used to be a very emotional person cry when happy, sad etc. but now absolutely nothing.  Also fed up I have no sex drive what so ever just feel that my life has changed for the worse, I would be interested to here from other's that have experienced this as well.

What sort of HRT are you on after the ovary removal?

I am not on any HRT when I had the surgery they told me I couldn't have  HRT for a month which was hell, so after a month I just decided to carry on without to be honest I am managing fine without it apart from the reasons I mentioned and feel I am a heartless person which I never was.  Winnie

I could see an upside to this no emotions that would be a nice break!

Where were you in menopause before you had your ovaries removed and how old are you? I presume you still have your uterus? The symptoms you describe are typical of being suddenly deprived of hormones produced by the ovaries - and even if you were post-menopausal they could still have been producing some oestrogen. They also produce testosterone - although I'm not sure how this works after the menopause ( I know the adrenals also produce it). Lack of that would account for your lack of libido.

I think you should ask for a specialist referral to a menopause clinic if you can as you might be able to get some testosterone replacement. The new NICE Guidelines on menopause make provision for women to be considered for this off licence, for loss of libido, but a specialist clinic is more likely to consider this I think. Have a look at the section on testosterone and HRT after hysterectomy (with ovary removal - which is the main point in your case).

Are you on any other prescribed medication? You might find that your symptoms continue to become apparent over the course of the next few months so better to deal with them sooner rather than later?

Hope this helps :)

Thanks everyone for your replies I have tried going away and that doesn't help either.  I wasn't in the menopause when the ovaries were removed.  The only medication I take is Vitamin D, Evening Primrose because I have a lot of breast pain due to cysts.  I will read the link thank you and I will get back to you to you all.  Our doctors are useless so don't give a lot of hope.
