I found this very interesting and it really highlights the minefield that is menopause and treatments.


(The author does mention our own Dr Currie quite a lot too.)

You can post a link to any articles at all - in fact it is encouraged to reference anything we say about menoapuse. You just can't link to products to buy to do with health and menopause and to sites that are selling certain menopause products (some such sites have articles but are really trying to sell you stuff!).

The article really highlights all the contradictions, lack of knowledge and inconsistencies that are still present around this area of our lives.

Thank you for letting me know what I can post Hurdity.

There is so much to find out and talk about and so many doctors who just don't have much knowledge about it all, which seems so strange in this day and age.
The fact that we as menopausal women are all still discussing, researching and trying stuff for ourselves speaks volumes about the lack of care by so many GPs and the medical world in general.
 
I wish there could be a 'menopause nurse' in every surgery who would be available for women to talk to and discuss problems with and she could then guide them to correct treatments and the best doctor!

I have seen 2 doctors at a specialist menopause clinic. They have access to all my medical history and what they have suggested to me totally contradicts each other.

I got chatting to an aquaitance today who I know has been really struggling with peri symptoms. She has seen 2 GPs who both dismissed her symptoms and pushed Prozac at her recently.

We chatted for only 10 minutes but she said she had learned more from me about peri menopause and how HRT works than she had from numerous appointments with both GPs. She also said that what I explained made far more sense than anything she had heard from her GPs.
