HRT for PCOS?
« on: December 02, 2015, 08:18:16 AM »

Does anyone know whether PCOS is ever treated with HRT? Not for me but for my step daughter who is only 24. Just wondering, as I assume it is a hormone imbalance? Thanks

Hi
PCOS is commonly treated with the BCP, prescribed by the doctor, as it has to be less androgenic type. My daughter has PCOS and was for a short time on the BCP with good effect. A consultation is needed, and follow up for the effectiveness on the symptoms.
Good luck!

I haven't heard of HRT being used for PCOS but my daughter suffers from it and takes the same medicine my husband does for his diabetes..its called Metaformin also she take another medicine along with it called Spironolactone. Apparently its a pretty complex issue and she sees an endocrine doctor for it as she has too much insulin in her system which in turn causes the excessive hair, etc.,  Good Luck to your step daughter..there is a website my daughter uses called Soulcysters for more info
