Gynae Scanning Shop on Our High Street
« on: November 27, 2015, 10:46:46 AM »

Just noticed a new fertility and gynae scanning facility has opened, literally on our High Street. The scans look to be about £85. I'm really pleased, it will save a trek across town if I want a reassurance scan in future.

I would check out the credentials of any place like that.  I used to work for gmc so have seen all sorts.

There are alot of these mobile scanning units now ,there only used to be breast screening and blood donor ones. My friend is going to have hip/pelvis scanned in one next week as it's weeks to wait at the hospital, but it's still NHS.

Sounds interesting - I doubt we would see anything like that in the rural W Country.... that is a very low price though for peace of mind, if it is regulated in some way? Do you just make an appointment like an optician or something?

I've seen adverts for all sorts of private scans in London for years.  Does this place also do breast scans?  Sounds like a good idea and I hope it is rolled out nationwide.

Exactly my point i could set up a clinic like this and employ someone who may not be fully qualified without any doctor present.  I would check it out before parting with money.  It may be cheap but may not be safe!

I think CQC regulated is the way to go …….. if it takes the strain from the NHS and is well regulated it should be rolled out eventually.  I forgot to arrange my mammogram  ::) this year so need to ring in Jan. to make an appt..

They offer an endometrial thickness scan for £80.......I presume that measures the thickness of the womb lining which is the one that is  of interest to us?   The services seem mainly aimed at fertility services.

A useful service for women who can't tolerate any progesterone and just use oestrogen BUT who still have a regular monthly bleed regardless of no progesterone.
