Thanks Zara it's great to hear from others who feel like me!

Before my op I was job sharing doing 3 days a week.  After my op I had 7 weeks off but in that time I was doing work from home and popping into school for odd days most of that time as it was the end of the year and had shows etc to do.   Then I had the 5 weeks holiday and went in a lot and doing planning etc.

Then returned full time in which I job share with the head teacher, in a new younger age group I have never done before, for 3 days a week them back up to the older children for the rest of the week.   Hugely regret ever saying yes to full time, but was asked before my operation and thought I would be ok.

I will see what the doctors say on Friday.  I have not found a menopause clinic near where I live and can't find one in Newcastle!   Maybe this can be my new vocation setting up a clinic to support women in my area, as the nurse at the doctors says she has loads of women who come to see her about other things, who end up moaning about the lack of support for women.

I tried St. John's wort this week, but ended up with palpitations so had to go back to my Kalms tablets!

Am sure things can only get better, so hopefully will get some answers from the doctor, but I think I already know the answer really!  ::)

Take care and thanks again for your replies

Lindsey, we'll done for finding a clinic in Newcastle but like my GP they hadn't a clue there was one in Edinburgh, which is bizarre.
Hopefully Nikki will see this and get a referral. X

Hi

And thanks for that link!!  I went to the doctors on Friday and have been reluctantly put on anti depressants and signed off work for 4 weeks.

I mentioned menopause clinic and he did mention one at newcastle but wasn't very enthusiastic about it.  Don't think he really wanted to discuss it!  He recommended I made an appointment with a female doctor!

Anyway started anti D's but don't really want to take them, so am going to contact my consultant to see if he can recommend anyone.  I think testosterone  will help  from reading about it on the forums.

Will let you know how I get on

Just checked the link and realised I had tried this one. The newcastle general has now shut down, about 4 years ago.  They obviously haven't updated the info!

But I will do my research and find out and add it to this forum incase anyone else in the north east needs it!

Good luck!

Perhaps let the webmaster know that this hospital has shut down and there is no longer a menopause clinic there so that the information can be updated?

Some other thread recently have mentioned meno specialists in other cities eg manchester.

How about contacting the clinics and asking the consultant / secretary to suggest a colleague specialising in meno in the newcastle area.  Stress you are struggling to cope etc and they will prob be likely to help.

I would imagine they all attend some sort of networking / siminar events etc so are aware of each other.

Alternatively phone either a  spire or a bmi private hospital and ask them for a meno specialist in the area.  Once you get a few names check them out online before you decide.

Most work in nhs as well therefore your gp should be able to refer you either privately or nhs route.

Just because one door has closed there are others available to you.  My motto is never take no for an answer if i truly believe something is worth doing,

Totally agree Linsey

Good idea re phoning other clinics near to me.  Am going to try my consultant that did my op first and see if he knows someone.   I will not give up as fed up of feeling half the person I was before the op!

Will keep you posted
